Default A Mesmer that deals damage???

[skill]signet of judgment[/skill][skill]signet of rage[/skill][skill]bane signet[/skill][skill]castigation signet[/skill][skill]judge's insight[/skill][skill]strength of honor[/skill][skill]mantra of inscriptions[/skill][skill]resurrection chant[/skill]

Inspiration Magic: 10+1+1
Fast Casting: 8+1
Smiting Prayers: 12
Healing Prayers: 2

This build is pretty common in PvP... I figured it would work in PvE as well. Normally the Mesmer will have signet of humility but there is really no need for that in PvE so I sub'd in Judge's Insight.

I have not tried it in PvE yet so... what do you think? Does it work? Is there another mesmer bar that works better at providing both defense and offense for the team?

Wouldn't it be alot smarter to just take CoP...?

Anyway, you would need to be with a team of players for it to be effective, as AI fails at melee.

Signet of Humility is the key to the build in PvP.

Otherwise, I'd probably run a Monk/Mesmer over this...the only benefit you get (that I can see) from being a Mesmer would be if you were using Artificer's Insignia.

Not sure how effective it would be, but I don't see why this wouldn't work in PvE. Although with Judge's Insight in there, I'm not sure how good energy management would be. With 1 physical I'm sure it would be fine, but with 2 you'll be using 20e every ~20 seconds (assuming you have 20% enchantment mod) and 10e every 75 seconds with 2 pips of regen. Even with castigation, energy would probably be tight with 2 physicals. May be wrong, of course.

I've heard A/D scythesin and wounding strike dervish heroes aren't that bad.

You can easily use anti melee as a mesmer and deal plenty of dmg. Inetpitude, cluminess, wandering eye,sig of cluminess, visions of regret, visons of remouse these are all awesome skills to use in pve since almost everything attacks/wands.

I play a Mesmer primarily. Here is a good starting point build for PvP or PvE. One reason I like it so much is the ability to tweak it as it really relies on only the first four skills.

Me/A to start but I also use Me/Rt or Me/Mo in PvE for res skills. First four are a spike.

Augury of Death (or conjure Nightmare to start immediate damage)
Migraine
Phantom Pain
Shatter Delusions
Cry of Frustration (blocks anything)
Empathy
Ether Feast (makes slightly less work for healers)
Pain Inverter (optional slot)

You'll want Illusion and Dom at 10 or higher for the most effectiveness. I'm using a Deldrimor Dom staff that is +60 hp and +15 nrg. With (I believe) a sup or major Dom rune.

I've been able to go toe-to-toe with sins, rangers, dervs, and tanks (of course their builds could have just sucked )

Even so I AB and vanquish with this build. Pain Inverter at r5 or higher is an elementalist nightmare. You can take down Ceretadons like a Mursaat casting spectral on a Summit. If you have a decent healer with you can be pretty aggresive with this build.

NOTE: This was originally an Augury-enchan conundrum-shatter-blackout spike designed to cause high dmg to monks then prevent them from healing themselves.

Have fun.

This is great advice as well. Ineptitude and empathy are addictive because of the armor ignoring damage. Empathy on sins is especially nice because they interrupt and block and attack quickly (well Raptors at least).

Have SoI (Elite), Drian Enchament and Power drain as core skills. Use high damage AOE spells from other professions like Churning Earth, Searing Flame and Mealstrorm/Meteor Shower in your skill bar. Add or change to Backfire, Clumsiness, Wandering eye, CoP and others EoTN skills as required. You will develop knowledge on what spells to bring for each mission. You may need monk skills on some missions.

Have 16 on Illusion and 13 on Fast Cast. Develop instinctive nature to have SoI on before casting any spells.

Blaze thorugh all missions for Master with the build with no problem (of course heros as always did most of the work, in fact they did the work well even if I took an unplanned short break in the middle of a big fight). Bring a Blood Ritual Necro hero to continually fuel your energy to deliver damage.

You can blaze through missions in master without relying on a skill which "eases grind" or PvE skills.

Not just Artificer's Insignia, but also mesmers have inspiration runes and headgear, so they have a higher level of mantra of inscriptions, which means signets recharge faster and the mantra lasts longer.

The damage may not be high, but they are armor ignoring and the utilities, like [[Signet of Distraction], [[Purge Signet], knock-down skills, etc. make up for it.

I have posted a mesmer hero version here:
